<h3><a name="he"></a>Undergraduate Full-time Applications </h3> \
<p> </p> \
<p>All applications to full-time undergraduate courses should be made through UCAS \
(Universities and Colleges Admissions Service), using the UCAS on-line \
application form. This service allows for an application for up to five course \
choices at the same or different institutions in the UK.</p> \
<p> \
If you are applying to more than one course at university or college, the cost \
for 2011 entry is £21. If you only apply to one course at one university or \
college, the cost is £11. Further guidance and information is available on the \
UCAS website <b><a href="http://www.ucas.com">www.ucas.com</a> </b>, or contact \
the UCAS Customer Service Unit on 0871 4680468 (or 0044 871 4680468 from outside the UK).</p> \
<p>If you are currently studying at a school or college, advice on the application \
process will be available from your tutor. Other applicants can seek advice from \
their local careers advisory service.</p> \
<p>If you are considering applying for a course, it is also a good idea to drop in \
to one of our <b><a href="/home/opendays/he-index.htm">open days</a></b>.</p> \

<h3>Frequently Asked Questions<br> \
</h3> \
<h4>Can I apply directly to the second or third year? </h4> \
<p> \
We are happy to consider applications directly to years 2 and 3 of undergraduate \
programmes if you are able to provide evidence that you have successfully \
completed a course equivalent to year one/two of the course for which you are \
applying. Applications should be made via UCAS. The University will contact you \
once you have submitted an application and will make its decision based on the \
information you provide. This process is known as Accreditation of Prior \
Learning (APL). Full details of the University’s APL procedure can be found in \
the student handbook on the link below:</p> \

<h4>Can I defer my application (gap year)? </h4> \
<p>We welcome applications from students who are planning on taking a gap year. You \
can apply by 15 January even if you intend to start your degree programme in \
September. You will need to indicate on your UCAS application that you wish to \
be deferred and we will be interested to read in your personal statement how you \
intend to spend the year.<br></p> \
<h4>Will I be required to attend an interview? </h4> \
<p>Interviews are not a pre-requisite for admission for the majority of our \
undergraduate courses. However, some departments may request an interview, \
particularly in the subjects of art and design, health and social care and \
biological sciences. The University will contact you if you are required to \
attend an interview.</p> \
<h4>What does my offer mean? </h4> \
<p>There are two types of offer we can make on your application. Conditional means \
that your place is subject to you achieving the entry requirements set by the \
University. Unconditional means that you have already fulfilled the entry \
requirements and we are happy to offer you a place. </p> \
<p>When all of your chosen universities have decided whether to offer you a place, \
UCAS will contact you with details of how to reply to these offers. </p> \
<h4>How can I track my application? </h4> \
<p>Once you have completed your application, you can use UCAS Track to keep \
up-to-date with the progress of your application and reply to your offers.</p> \

<p>Once you have accepted our offer, we will contact you again on \
receipt of your examination results. If you have met the conditions, \
we will send you an induction pack which will contain all the \
information you need to begin your studies in September. If your \
original offer was unconditional, you can expect to receive your \
induction pack in August.</p> \
<h4>What happens if my application is unsuccessful? </h4> \
<p>If your application is unsuccessful you will be able to view the \
reason for rejection on UCAS Track. If you are unhappy either about \
the way in which your application has been processed or about a \
decision not to be offered a place, please refer to our Admissions \
Policy for further guidance. </p> \
<h4>What fee will I be asked to pay? </h4> \
<p>Students are charged different fees depending on whether they are \
classed as home or overseas. We will usually be able to determine \
your status from the information provided on your UCAS application \
form. If there is any doubt we will ask you to complete a fee status \
questionnaire which should provide the additional information we \
need.<br> </p> \
