Qualifications 

RMN, Dip.N (with distinction), BSc (First Class Honours) Specialist Nursing Practice, MSc (with distinction) Advanced Nursing Practice.

 

Background

Paul is a mental health nurse with some 20 years practical experience of working in both inpatient and community settings.   For much of his career Paul has also delivered education and training within both academic and practice settings.

 

Interests

Paul’s interests are around addressing the personal, social and political contexts of health care. Much of Paul’s recent work has focused on practical ways of engaging with marginalised groups, in particular working alongside people with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

 

Current Activity

  • Nurse consultancy within acute mental health care.

  • Using practitioner action research to enhance dual diagnosis interventions within inpatient settings (pilot study supported by Trent RDSU)

  • Developing a peer support network for people with a diagnosis of personality disorder (Character Café).

  • Consultancy on developing personality disorder services.

  • Developing and implementing a nursing strategy for Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Course Leader:  Introduction to Cognitive & Behavioural Approaches in Mental Health Care CPD Module

  • Course Leader: People Personality & Disorder in Mental Health Care CPD Module
