The School of Education is a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment in which staff have developed national and international reputations in their areas of expertise and are committed to the advancement of knowledge and its application in all fields of education.
We are fully committed to developing outstanding teachers who, as soon as they enter the classroom, make a positive impact on pupils’ learning and attainment. To achieve this we work with two partners, Lincolnshire Teaching School Alliance and the St George’s Academy Partnership, to offer PGCE School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programmes across a wide range of Secondary School subjects that combine professional practice with cutting-edge educational research.
We are also offering a PGCE Primary Education through the SCITT scheme with Lincolnshire Teaching School Alliance. In addition the School offers a traditional Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and also a part-time Educational Doctorate (EdD).

ULERN Journal Launch
The ULERN Journal provides a forum for the publication of educational research that is taking place within the School of Education and aims to encourage, celebrate and disseminate research, scholarly activity, and pedagogical practice that is in keeping with and aligns with the School’s and College’s commitment to excellence in education and student experience.
The first edition of the ULERN Journal includes papers that originated as action research projects undertaken by graduate PGCE secondary trainee teachers and report on issues relating to secondary teaching and their development as reflective practitioners and educational researchers.
